Easy Summer Hairstyles For Natural Hair

Easy Summer Hairstyles For Natural Hair

June 11 2018

No matter what kind of hair you have, it’s a pretty safe bet that we can all agree on one thing: it can be a huge pain in the summertime. Between the heat, humidity and whatever outdoor activity you may have going on, it’s pretty tempting to just twist it up into a knot and forget it, am I right? While that is certainly an option, we don’t want you to get stuck in a rut thinking it’s your only option! We’ve rounded up a list of easy summer hairstyles that are perfect for your natural curls and will keep you cool and chic all summer long!

Criss Cross Top Knot. Not your average top knot! This crisscross version looks a little more fun and is more secure. Start with a half-up knot, then section the back of the hair into two. Wrap one section up around the knot, and then the other, making a crisscross in the back. Secure with pins, and for a bit of extra, add a pretty comb or flower.

Curly Twisted Pin-Up. This is a gorgeous style you can achieve overnight! First, part the front of your hair (ear to ear) and tie it out of the way. Next, part the back of your hair down the middle, and French twist each side up to your crown and secure with pins. Untie the front of your hair, apply moisturizer, and then create curls using flexi rods. Let your curls sit for a few hours (overnight is better!) and then remove the rods and smooth the edges down to finish. A gorgeous look for any summer activity, this style could even pull double duty for a night on the town!

Two Strand Flat Twist. This one is perfect if you have short hair. Apply moisturizing cream throughout the hair, then take a two-inch section of hair from the front and split it into two equal strands. Twist the strands around each other, grabbing more hair from each side as you twist down your hairline. Keep twisting around your head and pin the tail end underneath for a clean look. Set with hairspray and you’re on your way!

Easy Goddess Braid. Start with a good hair moisturizer, then section the hair into two pieces (angled front and back). Tie the back hair out of the way and twist the front section into a pretty crown French braid across the front and down the side of your head. Secure the end, then braid the back section starting above the ear and down the back of your hairline and secure the end. Next, twist both ends together and pin. The result is a beautiful look that will keep you cool no matter what comes your way!
